Toshiba Launches Massive Excite 13 Slate

Is the 7.0-inch Galaxy Tab too small for you? How about the 9.7-inch iPad? Still too small? Then Toshiba has something that is probably just right for you.

The maker of Excite and Thrive tablets has just announced a 13-inch version of their Android slate, featuring a resolution of 1600 by 900 pixels. That is the next highest among tablets (second only to the new iPad) and tops all Android tabs available today.

Toshiba said that the move was based on studies that most people rarely bring their tablets out of their houses. The company is also saying that there are users who would rather have bigger screens on their slates than having a smaller and lighter one.

The Excite 13 is equipped with a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 and runs on Ice Cream Sandwich. Prices would be at $650 and $750 for the 32 GB and 64 GB respectively.
